Digital Genealogist pages don't display well on my monitor

If you have installed Adobe Reader 7.0 and the graphics don't look right on your computer, you are probably still opening your PDF files with an earlier version of Adobe Reader. Here's how to change to Adobe Reader 7.0:

  1. Open Windows Explorer (Start/Programs/Accessories/Windows Explorer)

  2. Click on Folder Options on the menu bar.

  3. Select the File Types tab.

  4. Scroll down until you see the PDF extension and then click once on that line.

  5. Under the Details section below, you will see "Opens With" and it will say which version of Adobe Reader is currently set to open your PDFs.

  6. If it says anything less than Adobe Reader 7, click on Change.

  7. Adobe Reader 7 should be listed under the recommended programs to open with. Select it and click OK.

  8. If Adobe Reader 7 is not listed, ensure that it is installed on your computer.

  9. Then click on Browse on the Open With screen and find Adobe Reader 7. It may be listed under Adobe Acrobat 7. If that's all you see, double click on Adobe Acrobat 7 and there will be a folder that says Reader. Double click on that. Then double click on the file that says "acrord32.exe".

  10. Close all the windows and your PDF will now open with Adobe Reader 7.
